Tania's travelblog continues....
Hi y'all.
After the fun I had writing for you on my Australian trip. I figured I could do a mini blog on my USA trip.
Again, I had to pack a couple of hours before take off. Stress!!! But I made it. Apart from my camera, which is still at home on my table...
The great thing about travelling on an American airline is the fact that you can take more luggage with you. The standard is one bag of 23 kilo's per person, but since Americans see everything much bigger, you are aloud 2 bags of 23 kilo's per person :)
However, that is about to change... Due to the recesion I guess.
The airplane from Brussels to New York JFK was a lot smaller too than usual.
So it took an hour more to fly here. But after 8h20 I arrived at my second home: New York, America. :)
I turned on my cell phone and I get this great text: « Welcome to the USA »
I get in line for immigration and another stamp in my passport :)
The men at the desks look 'not to mess with' but are always friendly. Funny but they always ask me what the weather is like in your homecountry... Maybe they are addicted to the weatherchannel :)
So... I had two apples with me and needed to check the box 'are you bringing any fruits, vegetables, meats... into the country'
The guy from immigration told me I have to give my apples to customs, they're not allowed. So I ask him if I can eat it. And he said... Well, if you would eat it and give the leftover apple, that will be fine too.
So I go to customs, they see I checked the box: 'fruits & vegetables' So I tell 'em I got two apples with me.
I ask the guy if I can eat an apple. He lookes at his colleague with a smile and says: 'what do you think, can this sweet girl eat her apple'
They both smile and let me eat my apple. So one of the two men notice my t-shirt 'I'm adorable and that's enough' and says to me: you are adorable!
I get all shy, eating my apple and tell him: Thank you.
He says: why are you going to florida, why don't you stay in new york?
I tell him i'm going to see a friend in florida but will be in New York for 4 days.Than he asks me wether I'm travelling alone or with my boyfriend.
I smile and say: 'No boyfriend'
He says: 'Well can I have your number or email so i could see you when you're in new york in a couple of days?
I laugh and say: Haha, are you kidding me? :)
He: No, I think you're cute so I wanna contact you....
And then it's like time slows down and your brain is racing... 'Should I give it? Or shouldn't I?'
Well here's what my brain told me in this slow second:
'Tania, girl, for some bizar reason, American men are attracted to you. Stop analyzing why, but enjoy it'
So I gave him my number and e-mail and walked out of there with a smile. :)
Life can be schweet :P
At this time I'm waiting for my connection flight to Miami which is in 3 hours. Still a lot of time to kill, but I don't mind. I love it here... But that, my friends, is no secret to you :)
Later,
Tania, life from JFK :)
